Position Overview:

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), seeks to hire a highly qualified and motivated professional to fulfil the responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant I, also referred to as a Staff Assistant, for the Bureau of Fraud Science and Technology (BFST). This position will support BFST by handling confidential information, developing reports, preparing agency correspondence, and conducting research for management. Additionally, the Staff Assistant will serve as a liaison with agency units, bureaus, and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Staff Assistant for the Bureau of Fraud Science & Technology (BFST)
  • Assists and confers with management staff regarding special projects concerning information technology functions
  • Performs support duties for BFST including assisting with coordination, review, and development of ongoing projects with the OIG
  • Serves as liaison to Agency staff, sister agency personnel, public officials, and other interested parties
  • Assists in the development and coordination of regular and special operating reports
  • Serves as timekeeper for the BFST
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of professional experience as a staff assistant working for a management official.
  • One (1) year of professional experience in project management, AI tools, and data analytics capabilities.
  • One (1) year of experience conducting special projects that include evaluating existing and proposed programs, policies, and procedures for a public or private organization.
  • One (1) year of professional experience utilizing verbal and written communication skills to respond to program and operational inquiries from agency staff and other organizations.
  • One (1) year of professional experience working with other supervisors and managers.
  • One (1) year of experience working in an investigations field.
  • One (1) year of professional experience serving as a liaison for management in meetings.
  • One (1) year of experience developing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and Notes.

  • Requires the ability to utilize and maintain a state issued equipment such as a laptop.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
