Job purpose
To lead and manage the quality control processes for all inbound and outbound goods, with a specific focus on returned merchandise from customers and supplier quality assurance. This role ensures product integrity, compliance with quality standards, and continuous improvement across the supply chain. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for minimizing defects, reducing return rates, and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers to support overall business excellence.
Duties and responsibilities
Oversee and execute the inspection and disposition process for all customer-returned goods (Reverse Logistics), ensuring prompt and accurate assessment, documentation, and coordination for repair, salvage, or scrap.
Conduct regular quality audits and checks on incoming goods from suppliers to ensure they meet established product specifications, purchase order requirements, and company quality standards.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective Quality Control (QC) procedures, standards, and checklists for inspecting raw materials, finished products, and packaging.
Analyze quality data, returned merchandise reports, and supplier audit findings to identify recurring issues, root causes, and trends. Prepare detailed reports summarizing quality metrics, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with Procurement, Inventory Control, and Warehouse teams to communicate quality standards, address discrepancies, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with internal and external partners (suppliers/vendors).
Maintain accurate records of all quality checks, inspection results, non-conformance reports, and supplier performance metrics within the relevant Quality Management or Warehouse Management System.
Manage the disposition of rejected or non-conforming materials, coordinating with necessary departments for appropriate quarantine, return to supplier, or rework.
Support maintaining a safe working environment and focuses on safe work habits, ensuring QC activities comply with safety protocols.
Maintains a focus for self and team on continuous learning that will enhance skill sets and growth opportunities in quality management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent experience; a bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
5 years or more years in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Supply Chain Management, specifically involving supplier quality or returns processing.
Strong computer and data entry skills, required, preferably with experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
Must have excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal, for professional supplier correspondence.
Must be strongly proficient in Microsoft Windows and Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
Certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is highly desirable.
Must have the ability to learn new software programs.
Must have the ability to produce significant volume and work independently.
