Company Information:

Neighborhood Christian Centers was formally established in 1978, but the ministry began in 1968 on a grassroots level by JoeAnn Ballard, NCC’s founder. Reacting to a need within her community, JoeAnn and her husband Monroe offered a full-time ministry providing housing and care to their community and a foster home to 75 children. The Ballards’ vision was to help families to achieve upward mobility by creating pathways to higher education and to begin to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Today, NCC has grown to serve the Memphis community through 10 neighborhood based sites in Binghampton, Orange Mound, North Memphis, Frayser, South East Memphis, and South East Shelby. NCC provides services through 3 pillars of Ministry: Compassionate Ministries, Youth Empowered to Succeed (YES), and Adult and Family Enrichment Services. NCC’s ultimate goal is to move clients from reliance to stability and ultimately, sustainability. By conducting ministry that meets practical and spiritual needs, we believe that our neighbors can move from reliability to sustainability. Through spiritual and programmatic development, NCC seeks to offer hope to broken communities, where neighbors have been disenfranchised by society. NCC values the philosophy, "respect for the total person", regardless of their poverty-stricken circumstances. We believe that with time and consistency, this will lead to an authentic and more effective relationship, which subsequently translates into a greater ability to effect change in the individual's life, their family life, and ultimately in the community at-large.

DEI Statement:

Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our organization. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce leads to innovation, creativity, and better outcomes for our community.

EEO Statement:

Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and supported.
